Tribute By Members and Students of Chetanaa
Though I knew Sharda didi since long, as a senior colleague in the university, it was my association with her as a member of CHETANAA that I came to know her true self. Honest, upright and very hard working, she worked with the unmatched passion for the children of CHETANAA. Her sincerity was infectious – motivating and inspiring everybody around her to contribute towards her favorite cause. I always found her to be uncompromising and candid- qualities so rare in today’s materialistic world. A woman of substance indeed ! Her consistent and tireless efforts have left behind a legacy – CHETANAA. True tribute to her will be to nurture this legacy. May her soul rest in peace in heaven.
Neera Verma, Secretary,Chetanaa.
Your dedication and commitment has enabled us to send our eyes to look a path for a new sunrise. Let’s hope that God will shower encouragement on us so that we could follow your footprints. We wish what you had seen in your eyes will one day run parallel to the coming time.

She continues to be the source of all inspiration and goodness in our lives. We feel and cherish her presence in each moment. She will be remembered for her love, affection, cheerful smile, guidance, positive energy, determination. Let's Abide and follow the path you showed us during your lifetime.

Dr Sharda was the heart throb of the less privileged and deprived section of society. She dedicated every ounce of energy or I had better say gave her life blood to the institution i.e Chetanaa. Initiating with very meager resources and negligible cooperation, she kept marching steadily. There was no obstacle too big or a hindrance so powerful that could make a dent in her determination. The more funds arranged the more emboldened she was to dream and act. Her face would radiate with a smile of contentment. In fact she had an in built spirit of humanitarianism that found a suitable platform in the shape of Chetanaa, an institution specially meant for uplift of the denied and the deprived masses. For her it was a dream come true and a lingering desire fulfilled. For people like her one can only pray and wish ‘let thy tribe increase!’ Amen.

Dr. Sharda was a marvelous human being. Reading, praying, reflecting, and meditating were the core of her very disciplined and simple life. She always impressed me with her compassion, kindness, humility and courage. She had the perseverance to successfully complete whatever she undertook and would leave no stone unturned in achieving her goals. Her love for poor and deprived children was matchless. She took great pride and pleasure in even small accomplishments of these children. Chetanna is not just an institution but it is an outstanding result of one human being’s continuous pursuit to make a difference in the life of these needy children. The dedication and devotion with which Dr. Sharda worked towards helping these Children inspired all of us as well. I feel lucky and truly blessed to have had Dr Sharda as my best friend for the past thirty years. Her untimely and sad demise is not only a huge loss for Chetanna but a huge personal loss for me as well. I pray to God that this loss becomes my inspiration to work harder for Chetanaa.

Shardaji, popularly known in Kurukshetra University as an eminent academician and dedicated teacher had another more powerful and enduring aspect of her personality in the form of rare service to humanity from the platform of CHETANAA i.e an institution she established with her blood and toil. As an untiring and zealous worker of Chetanaa she spared no pains in taking it from a ‘log cabin’ to ‘white house’. Beneath her walnut exterior lay kernel of tenderness and love which endeared her to one and all. Even though suffering from so many ailments at a later stage she continued to put up a bold and cheerful face and this quality of hers injected inspiration to many a depressed heart. The quantum of effort she put in and the whole time involvement she had with the institution made her name synonymous with Chetanaa. Since her spirit is alive in the form of Chetanaa only befitting tribute That can be paid to her is to nurture the legacy she has left behind. We must join hands to add energy, means and resources to make the institution a soul force to reckon with.

I knew Prof. Sharda since 1984 and considered myself lucky to have a teacher who was a friend, philospher and guide-someone who had taught me the value of humility and hardwork, without a trace of pride, someone who had been my toughest critic, yet supported all my dreams and taught me,what education really means. My appreciations come with the deepest of emotions for the good work that she always did for CHETANAA.
- Dr Miss Indra Gandhi - Student of Dr Sharda - Treasurer, Chetanaa
Some people are born on the earth to save humanity. In fact, they are the prophets of God. Sharda ji was one of them. Simple in looks but very considerate and devoted to the cause of poverty . She was always ready to sacrifice her comforts, wealth and anything for the uplift of the poor. In fact, she was a model of inspiration to others. She was a saint in the real sense. Her sudden demise is a great loss to society. We pray to God to give us strength to take those tasks forward as much as we can by following the path shown by her.

The great departed soul, tall, strong , loving, soft at heart, always ready to help, moving force behind CHETANAA, is none else but our loving Sharda didi. It is very difficult to reconcile with the fact that you are no more with us physically and have left for your heavenly abode. You have always been and will remain in our thoughts and deeds. We shall try our best to carry forward the principles propounded by you and take CHETANAA to its new heights. May your great soul rest in peace.
